The Shuttleworth Mead Business Park has become a reality, not only due to the commitment and investment of the Developers, Ribble Industrial Estates Ltd, but also due to a variety of grant funding regimes whose investment has allowed a derelict brownfield site to be transformed into a high quality, state of the art business park in delightfully landscaped surroundings.

The developers, who are all local business people, are investing over £12,000,000 in the project. They believe that there is an identified need for a quality business location within the Burnley Borough. Ken Ingham, MD of Ribble Industrial Estates Ltd said 'Enquiries are coming in on a daily basis, and we are finding that we could have filled the site several times over. Already over half of the available land has been allocated, and we are now looking for investors who require smaller plots of up to 40,000 sq. ft, although we will have one plot available soon for 75,000 sq. ft'

The Business Park is being supported to the tune of £2.2m by the European Regional Development Fund and just under £2m from the North West Development Agency. Funding is for building and construction works totalling over 130,000 sq. ft of built floorspace, and site investigation / preparation and environmental works covering 22.7 hectares of land.

In addition ERDF are contributing £260,000 for Revenue works including marketing, business support and assisting residents into the newly created jobs.
