Think Local Statement Of Intent - Keep Burnley's Businesses Buzzing

This organisation supports the THINK LOCAL Initiative and believes in purchasing locally in order to:-

  • Stimulate the local economy and encourage the growth and development of local firms.
  • Maximise Opportunities for the creation of employment opportunities in the Borough
  • Recycle local wealth wherever possible
  • Support a local supplier which can help us be more competitive. Local Suppliers can provide important advantages when close liasion is necessary to sort out any technical or production problems.

We therefore agree to maximise opportunities for local firms to quote/tender for our business by:

  • Actively encouraging local firms that are capable of meeting our requirements to come forward.
  • Giving to local firms, that are able to meet our quality and other standards every opportunity to quote for our requirements at reasonable cost to themselves having regard to their size.
  • Investing time and effort in helping local firms to understand our general approach to purchasing and our detailed purchasing requirements in delivery, quality and performance.
  • Agreeing and operating within payment and other commercial terms which are fully understood by both parties.

Local suppliers must, for their part, invest time and effort to gain a proper understanding of our requirements, systems and procedures.

This approach is not about favourable treatment to local firms, who will still need to meet our high standards in terms of price, quality and delivery.
